I. Mission Statement and Values
MISSION: Mission Control is a safe community gathering place for the open exchange of sex-positive creativity, education, playfulness, thoughts, and ideas.
VISION: Mission Control co-creates artistic, sensual, and social evolution.
WE VALUE: shared leadership • stability • flexibility • volunteerism • collaboration • transparency • experiential learning
II. Membership
Mission Control Members
Everyone who participates in an event at Mission Control may become a non-voting MC Member.
Mission Control Crew Members
Members who make an annual contribution of significant volunteer time to Mission Control may become Crew Members. Crew Members are voting members.
Alliance Members
Members who make an annual contribution of significant financial support may become non-voting Alliance Members.
III. Governance
Structure:
• Mission Control is governed by a nine member Board of Directors, known as the “Bridge.”
• The Bridge sets policy and makes decisions about the direction of the organization.
• Decisions in conflict with existing policies must be approved by the Bridge.
• A Bridge Member may additionally assume a separate, functional role within Mission Control operations as a Crew Member.
• In the event of a resignation or removal of a Bridge Member, the Bridge must promptly appoint a new Bridge Member to serve the remaining term of the vacated position.
• Bridge decisions will be determined by majority vote, except for changes to the Charter and the removal of a Bridge Member, both of which shall require a ¾ majority.
• The Bridge shall elect a Chairperson, known as the “Captain”. The Captain is the functional leader of the Mission Control organization and has a tie-breaking Bridge vote if required.
• Bridge Meetings take place monthly. Quorum for meetings is five Bridge Members.
Elections:
• Bridge members are elected for three (3) years or until they resign or are removed.
• There are no term limits for Bridge positions.
• Three Bridge Members are up for election each year, with the exception of the first year, where all nine Bridge members are elected.
• Any member may be nominated by any member, including self-nomination.
• Voting members (the Crew) use a "plurality at large" election process, where each voting member may choose to vote for as many nominees as there are available Board positions.
(Upon election, each founding Bridge member must choose whether they are up for election in three years, in two years, or in one year, with priority given to those receiving the highest number of votes, with the condition that exactly three Bridge members are assigned to each category.)
Removals:
• A Bridge Member can be removed from a Bridge position by 3/4 Board vote.
• Members and Crew Members can be removed from operational roles by a majority Bridge vote.
• Bridge votes on removal are final and immediate.
IV. The Charter
• The Charter is our founding and guiding document.
• Changes to the Charter are enacted by 3/4 vote of the board and confirmed by majority vote of voting Crew Members at the next election. If the changes fail to be confirmed, the Charter reverts to the most recently confirmed Charter.
